GSK is a global biopharma company with a leading portfolio of vaccines and speciality medicines. The business has over 70,000 employees worldwide and over the last 15 years, we’ve delivered over 1,000 projects across a dozen business areas.

A bold new world

Our relationship started when GSK challenged RY to reinvigorate its corporate website to reflect a bold new direction. Since then, we’ve led on the design, creation and maintenance of their digital real estate.

 

Following the well-publicised demerger in 2022, we redefined GSK’s presence online once again, with an industry leading website experience that we continue to support on today. Our research enabled us to identify key audiences and develop a responsive site architecture that would highlight the content that matters most.

 

From there we built a website that delivers fluid, dynamic experiences for all users. The design system has also empowered us to roll out the site’s digital experience across GSK’s local sites, digital products and internal channels with ease.

Creating a new approach to visualising science

At the heart of GSK’s business is science. It’s scientists and their breakthrough discoveries that positively impact the health of billions of people. Through our expertise evolving their brand for use online, we were subsequently challenged to visually bring this approach to life in a modern, ownable and intriguing way, that would capture people’s imagination, reveal the magic of GSK R&D and elevate their science story.

 

In what has now become a labour of love, every week our film and animation team collaborate with scientists across GSK to develop 3D imagery that does just that – revealing the wonder that was previously unimaginable beyond the use of an electron microscope, and evolving the brand to become more intriguing, accessible, motion-led, human-centric and sophisticated.

Bringing the brand to life

From digital, brand, then film and animation, on to application and engagement, one of our most recent successes follows the 2024 move to a new HQ in central London. It’s more accessible and better suited for employees, fitted out sustainably to ensure ease and flexible working.

 

To announce their arrival, we created a jaw dropping immersive experience at the Outernet to get people excited about the move. It’s illustrative of the variety of projects that we get to collaborate on with our partners at GSK.

It’s personal

RYers are passionate about the work we do with GSK – it’s a big team that we flex depending on the challenge. That includes writers, filmmakers, UXers, project managers, developers, researchers, animators, designers, strategists, artworkers, producers, directors, art directors and many more…we all get it – we are entrusted to inspire audiences in an authentic way about issues that affect our world and it’s something that we relish, and one recent project brought us all together.

 

For GSKers, the way they approach their roles are similar. Their ambitions and motivations are incredibly personal and meaningful.

 

It was that insight that guided our approach to a global talent campaign. We put the employees’ voice and their experiences at the heart of our creative idea that positioned GSK as a great place to work. It helped set the business apart as an employer with some amazing stories. In the six months post campaign launch, applications to GSK from socials were up nearly 20% and employer reputation up 3.1 points in the Global Employer Brand Index, putting them at the top of the leader board amongst other biotech’s.

The future – Ahead Together

What the last 15 years have shown is that we evolve with our client, and, in-turn, our relationship evolved too. What remains true today as it did on the first day of working together is that we push each other to be brave and try new ways to engage people so that their experiences are positive, meaningful and authentic.
