Microsoft and Radley Yeldar win Gold at the edie awards
The 2021 Environmental Sustainability Report is awarded in the Sustainability Reporting and Communications category.
We’re incredibly proud that the 2021 Environmental Sustainability report delivered by RY for Microsoft, has been awarded Gold in the Sustainability Reporting and Communications category at this year’s edie awards.
Following its inaugural sustainability report, and two years after launching the most ambitious set of corporate environmental commitments in its history, Microsoft’s 2021 Environmental Sustainability report took the organisation from pledges to progress.
The report offers a comprehensive overview of Microsoft’s environmental approach, commitments, progress, and learnings. Microsoft admits progress is not always linear and recognises the difficulties facing all organisations in the battle to deliver rapid, intense decarbonisation. The report’s honest reflection and transparent disclosure demonstrate how the business is learning more about what’s required to improve - and a commitment to democratise this learning to help others do the same.
The transparent approach of the report was praised by the edie judges, saying it “displays clear, comprehensive leadership on climate action, with ambitious strategies and pathways to deliver carbon, water, waste and ecosystems system-level changes in meticulous detail, including the very real challenges faced in delivering on these. The messaging of the report was very clear and the assurance it had added real credibility, making it everything the judges wanted to see in this category.”
The edie awards are the UK’s largest sustainability awards, recognising excellence across the spectrum of green business; from the best efficiency programmes through to product innovations, from stakeholder engagement and social sustainability initiatives to the people on the ground who are making change happen.
