The Transformational Medicines and Vaccines Awards are a pinnacle event in GSK’s calendar, celebrating the most impactful projects throughout the year. To maintain momentum and excitement for this annual event, the team needed a fresh approach. As a hybrid event, it presented some challenges - with major ceremonies happening in three of GSK’s primary R&D locations, people across different time zones joining online and local watch parties – it required a heap of creativity, bundles of coordination and significant collaboration along the way.

Getting the balance right for both winners and watchers was critical. It was important that everyone felt both connected and part of celebrations, wherever they were in the world – be that on their sofa or at an event.

We set about differentiating the format from previous years by focusing on the people behind the award winning innovations. ‘Powered by you’ became the campaign theme, which enabled us to celebrate both individual and collective success.

Pre event: a countdown and teaser film built anticipation, whilst event toolkits inspired local teams to prepare their own celebrations. On the day: energy laden event packs and trophies awarded to the winner prompted the sharing of photos and thoughts on the event's social wall. 

Each of the 16 winning projects was brought to life through film, celebrating the unique angle of each story to bring a sense of momentum and surprise; and the global nature of GSK’s work meant us having to prep for and coordinate multiple shoots across various locations at the same time.
