Continued momentum
2023 was a year of continued momentum at CCEP. The ongoing integration of its Australia, Pacific and Indonesia operations was further strengthened with its joint-venture acquisition of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. Its product portfolio also continued to develop and reach more households through the launch of Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola in the growing alcohol ready to drink category, along with targeted innovation of existing brands such as the launch of Monster Zero Sugar.
CCEP are also, more than ever, aware of the social and environmental challenges it faces as a business, particularly around delivering short- and long-term GHG emissions reduction targets, increasing recycled content in its packaging and improving its water use efficiency.
The 2023 integrated reports’ aim was to demonstrate the ongoing growth of CCEP’s portfolio, geographic presence, and commitment to sustainability by creating one connected and integrated strategic narrative, highlighting the Groups momentum across all of its operations.
Integrating sustainability into the Group strategy
The main objective of the 2023 report was to integrate CCEP's sustainability strategy (This is Forward) into the Group strategy. The strategic report was restructured to embed the six elements of the sustainability strategy – Forward on: Drinks, Society, Supply chain, Climate, Packaging and Water – into the four strands of the Group strategy – Great brands, Great people, Great execution, Done sustainably. This allowed ambitions, commitments, and achievements to be covered via one narrative with linkage to risk and remuneration made clearer.
The strategic story was supported by short, highly visual case studies throughout the document which link off to specially created films that bring each story to life. The whole report was developed within Workiva allowing efficient editing, tagging and restructuring.
The PDF is also promoted via an engaging online summary, which elevates financial and sustainability performance, the strategic ambitions and achievements as well as housing the six bespoke films.
Truly integrated and multi-channel
The restructuring of this year’s report has led to a truly integrated strategic report that tells the story of CCEPs ambitions and progress. The new structure also provides a solid base to implement the new EU CSRD reporting requirements while maintaining a clear strategic focused narrative. The use of film and social promotion has elevated the stories most relevant to key stakeholders with online report engagement up 84% compared to the 2022 report. 1,543 unique visitors have interacted with the online report in the first two weeks since launch with 742 downloads of the IAR, up 45% on last year.
