We’re thrilled our film for Recycle Week 2022 – ‘Let’s Get Real’ – has picked up two further awards, receiving Gold in the Environmental Issues and Sustainability category and Silver in the Marketing Communication category of the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. This follows success at the Evcom Clarion Awards, New York Festivals, Brand Film Awards and Smiley Charity Film Awards.

Created as part of the wider Recycle Week campaign to drive behaviour change and direct people to Recycle Now’s Recycling Locator, the film takes viewers on a whistlestop behind-the-scenes journey through a recycling facility. We swoop over dunes of plastics, weave through machinery and plunge down chutes – all while our guide explains the great work done at the plant, its impact, and the problems that occur when the wrong items wind up on their conveyor belts. It was filmed using eight cameras, a drone and go-pros - all helping us showcase the work done at this kind of facility in a way the public had never seen before.

The Cannes Corporate Awards celebrate the world’s finest corporate media productions and documentaries of the year. Festivities in the south of France kicked off with a welcome reception at the famed Carlton Beach Club, right along the iconic Croisette before an impressive roster of winners was revealed at a captivating awards ceremony.

Our Head of film and animation Emily Clements was there not only to receive the awards and catch up with industry colleagues but also to present a lecture on ‘Unleashing Creativity with AI’. Emily shared insights on the impact of artificial intelligence on filmmaking, exploring some fascinating recent examples of its use and discussing the role of human insight in the process.
