A double-take: RY film team wins at EVCOM Clarion awards
Our film for WRAPs national 2021 Recycle Week campaign won in two categories.
It was a winning day for our film team yesterday as we scooped two awards at the EVCOM Clarion Awards.
Judges gave the film Silver in the brand communications category and Gold in the environment category, recognising the powerful role it played in a nationwide campaign that led to 82 per cent of the audience claiming they’d change their recycling behaviours as a result.
The film combines a powerful creative concept, emotional script and high tempo sound design to deliver a simple, engaging message about how recycling is a small but important act. While quickfire vignettes of domestic moments (such as a pan boiling) subtly hint at what climate change is doing to the planet, an inspiring voiceover encourages the viewer to ‘step it up’ and become part of the solution.
In achieving Gold in the environment category, the RY team fended off tough competition from the BBC, McKinsey and a COP26 film for ITN. One EVCOM Clarion’s judge said the film was ‘a really smart concept, easy to follow, and embraces change in a way that will resonate with every viewer’. We’re delighted the film played its part in an ambitious, creative and effective behaviour change campaign that made a real and tangible difference to recycling rates here in the UK. Huge congratulations to everyone on the team and at Recycle Now/WRAP.
