RY Next Gen: 'The experience of a lifetime'

Creative intern Mo Saleh shares what he enjoyed most during his time with RY

I approached the initial interview with little self-belief, doubting myself; thinking there was no way I was going to get an internship at such an inspiring agency.

But I did get it. And now my time at RY has come to an end, I can say that this has honestly been one of the best experiences of my life! I still remember walking in on the first day of my 6-week creative internship questioning whether I was going to be enough, whether I was going to feel out of place or just be treated like an ‘intern.’ I later found out there was absolutely nothing to worry about.

I spent my time at RY working on multiple different projects: from Syngenta, Wates and GSK ViiV, to the RY dog calendar (which by the way had the cutest dogs ever)! All of the tasks I was set were so different but so enjoyable once I got into them; although some were easier to get into than others, hahaha.

The RY team is one of the warmest, most welcoming, and homely groups of people I have met. Ever since day one, I felt at ease; from all the friendly introductions to Dom’s amazing lunches and Christian’s Christmas feast (which by the way, were both exquisite).

I never thought the day would come where I would choose to work in the studio over the convenience of working from home. I found that working in the office was extremely beneficial to me as it allowed me to always have someone to talk to, someone to review or look at my work. The freedom to work with different and diverse types of people, from all over the world, in a load of different positions has been very useful to me, as it’s showed me how every individual thinks differently, regardless of their job or the level they’re at.

To everyone at RY, I just wanted to say a huge thank you. No matter how low you may feel now I’m gone, I want you to know that you’ve given me the experience of a lifetime and you all deserve to have a huge smile on your face! I‘ve grown so much as a person thanks to you, and I truly appreciate it.

Dear RY, I’ll be back!

Mo
