Is IFRS the future of global sustainability reporting?

Learnings from IFRS S1 and S2 early adopters

From CSRD to Omnibus, the fragmented regulatory landscape is fuelling reporting complexity. This poses a real dilemma for reporters: wait for the dust to settle or lead through it.

In this era of uncertainty, a reporting framework differentiates itself from the crowd: the IFRS standards. To this day, it is the first global sustainability reporting framework that has voluntarily made its way to transposition in local jurisdiction as early as 2024.

We've examined 22 of the first IFRS reporters across 10 jurisdictions, to unearth insights on how companies are integrating the framework into their reporting.

We found that the first wave of IFRS adopters have shown an appetite for a potentially transformational reporting approach. But they also reveal uneven quality and lack of confident storytelling, creating both a credibility gap and a competitive opportunity.
