Bring it to life

Smith+Nephew’s has a purpose: ‘to improve the health issues that prevent people from living their lives to the fullest’. But while this purpose was baked into the heart of Smith+Nephew’s sustainability strategy, its sustainability reporting didn’t communicate precisely how coherently. Our challenge was to bring to life the positive impact that Smith+Nephew’s products and technologies have in the lives of real people.

Real innovations, real lives

We introduced ‘LifeUnlimited In Action’ as a hook to celebrate the variety of ways Smith+Nephew’s work has a positive impact on people’s lives. Real stories – for example how the company’s knee replacement technologies lead to fewer surgical interventions, increased accuracy and better patient outcomes – headed up each section, reinforcing the connection between Smith+Nephew’s products and the people who benefit from them. Elsewhere, we reinvigorated design and navigation to make it easier for users to find the content that matters most.

Inspiring colleagues

A refreshed, purpose-led approach helped Smith+Nephew convey the positive impact it has on people’s lives. Importantly, it created accessible, engaging and effective reporting that is now used to support the company’s sales and tendering teams, promote sustainability throughout the organisation and inspire colleagues to get involved in helping Smith+Nephew hit its sustainability targets.
