Sustainability is the fastest growing part of RY’s offer, driven by an incredible team of ambitious consultants, designers and project managers. Joining a team of ambitious, bright and energetic consultants, you’ll be responsible for leading sustainability strategy and reporting work for some of our biggest and most complex clients.

What you can expect from the role:

Lead on high profile sustainability strategy work: You’ll help deliver pioneering and progressive sustainability strategies for our clients. Our strategy work is wide-ranging – you’ll develop meaningful and progressive materiality assessments, and then use the outcomes to inform the development and implementation of rigorous strategic frameworks and targets. You’ll also apply creative flair by collaborating with our creative team to bring strategies to life, through the creation of a compelling identity and narrative.

Lead on insightful sustainability reporting programmes: You’ll lead a team of consultants to deliver insightful, rigorous and engaging sustainability and integrated reporting, across a range of channels. Your work will span the entire reporting life cycle, from setting the direction inspired by the latest sustainability developments and themes, to understanding audiences, devising an appropriate channel strategy, cracking an insight to shape the theme and creative direction, defining the content strategy, advising on appropriate standards and frameworks, gathering content, interviewing stakeholders, partnering with copywriters and briefing creative teams. You’ll also lead broader communications campaigns and report activation programmes.

Lead on topic-specific communications and campaigns: Whether developing a net-zero roadmap or creating a communications plan around specific human rights issues, you’ll lead on the development of topic-specific communications and campaigns for clients across a range of sectors.

Pitch to win: You’ll lead proposals, pitches and new business meetings, working with teams of consultants, client managers, creatives and business development partners to win work with new clients and grow existing accounts.

Raise our profile: Naturally curious and entrepreneurial, you’ll proactively come up with inspiring ideas and develop content for thought leadership and marketing material. You’ll draw upon your extensive network, building relationships and speaking at events to champion our thinking.

Build sustainability knowledge internally: You’ll help upskill the broader RY team around sustainability topics, running Sustainability Sessions and training for colleagues in other functions, e.g. employee experience, brand, digital, client services.

Requirements

  • You’re an entrepreneurial sustainability professional with a solid background in the agency or consultancy space, and demonstrable experience in corporate sustainability issues.
  • You’ve worked with a wide range of clients across multiple sectors and geographies, at various stages of their sustainability journey.
  • You’re passionate about sustainability, and have bucketloads of experience advising on and developing clients’ sustainability strategies, materiality assessments, sustainability reports and wider communications
  • You bring a perfect blend of technical expertise and communications flair, allowing you to understand and translate complex information and data into compelling communications.
  • An inspiring leader and effortless team player, you motivate your team and foster a joined up, engaged culture. People feel valued and that their careers are progressing in the right direction.
  • You know the relevant sustainability and reporting standards and frameworks inside out, including GRI, IIRC Framework, TCFD, the SDGs and UNGC. You’re also familiar with broader initiatives, including CDP and UNGP, as well as ratings and indices.
  • Passionate and convincing, you have an authentic style and you talk and present confidently. You’re a leading voice in successful pitches.
  • You write brilliantly, inspiring readers with engaging, thought-provoking content that attracts clients to RY.
  • Commercially astute, you’re adept at identifying and implementing commercial actions that aid the maintenance and growth of RY. You remain on top of forecasts and you’re easily able to identify and implement what’s required to meet targets.
  • You’re a nice person, with oodles of energy and infectious enthusiasm.
