CR@RY is
our internal initiative to make sure we practice what we preach
when it comes to corporate responsibility. After all, we
encourage our clients to be good corporate citizens, so it's only
right we follow our own advice. Plus we're nice people, and giving
a bit back is just a good thing to do.
In 2012 we have continued to develop our programme of
charitable giving, supporting individual, team and company wide
initiatives. A few of these are included here.
Continuing their success of last year, in November 2012
Team haiRY did sterling work as part of a sponsored moustache grow
in aid of Movember supporting
various charities that focus on cancer related illnesses in
men. We have also decided that rather than send printed Christmas
cards this year we have produced a digital version to email to all
our clients and friends and to donate the money saved to this
worthy cause.
We have also raised monies for Comic Relief, the fight
against Breast Cancer, heart disease and various Children's
charities. To support this year's Children in Need we organised a
day of silly activities, ranging from a raucous tea service to
genteel cake baking. We have also started regular 'clothes swaps',
donating surplus clothes to Oxfam and homeless charities, and
individual RY'ers have shown their commitment to charitable giving
through various activities including sponsored runs, walks, rows,
and abseils. Some pretty hair-raising feats were
undertaken.
In terms of pro-bono and "lo-bono" work we've created
campaigns for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSHH), supported
the activities of Amicus who provide legal support for prisoners
facing the death penalty, and we've completed a full identity for a
local primary school and helped nurture young talent by working
with universities, colleges, schools and individuals to provide
young people with valuable work experience.
Bottom line? We're a small business and we're not perfect,
but we're sincere about doing our best to make the world a better
place. That's fair enough, isn't it?
