We helped Home Retail
Group devise a long-term
communications strategy
that moved the focus from
simply reporting their
sustainability programme
to truly engaging with
stakeholders.
The challenge
Home Retail Group, which operates the successful retail chains
Argos and Homebase, had reported on sustainability for several
years when it came to Radley Yeldar. The group wanted to move away
from simply reporting its performance year-on-year to actually
engage more actively with its key stakeholders: its customers and
colleagues on the issues that interested it most.
Our solution
We helped Home Retail define a long-term communication strategy on
sustainability to measure the success of its communication efforts,
and ultimately test the changes of stakeholder perception and
actions. With both qualitative and quantitative measures and ideas
for other types of communication channels, we have helped ensure
that the longer term goal of changing behaviour will be achieved.
Creating an engaging sustainability microsite by providing both
annual reporting information as well as regularly updated content,
we have created a place 'for everything sustainability', where
people will feel like going back for more information. Other
priorities this year were to help on messaging, designing and
producing a downloadable sustainability summary and an engaging
Colleague Booklet. The Colleague Booklet was designed to explain
clearly to colleagues the group's approach and vision for
sustainability and invites all colleagues to get more engaged with
the agenda across the business.
