Our award-winning
safety films for Network
Rail captured the realities
of working life, engaged
strongly with employees
and changed attitudes
and practices.
The challenge
Network Rail needed a film to kick-start a series of nationwide
conferences. The organisation wanted to engage with the breadth of
its staff and to update them on the issues critical to the
company's future success. Attendees came from all areas of Network
Rail, and in numbers that ranged from one hundred to one thousand.
They carried with them a range of beliefs about, and attitudes
towards, their job and the company. The programme needed to be
positive and upbeat and reflect the diversity of people, jobs and
regions that make up Network Rail. Ultimately its aim was to
celebrate and motivate the people who keep the railways going -
Network Rail employees.
Our solution
'You are Network Rail' works as a powerful conference 'opener'.
The organisation is a 24-hour operation and the video reflects
this. It focuses on the people that keep the railways going -
maintenance staff, signallers, station employees and office workers
- rather than the infrastructure and equipment. The video showcases
a typical day for them - in the best possible light - and weaves
these sequences together so that the audience gets a sense of
incredible activity up and down the country. There is no voice-over
and no interviews. Instead the video is driven forward by the
marriage of music and images. By the end, the audience has a true
feeling for the range of work undertaken by Network Rail employees,
and the importance of its round-the-clock operation.
