One of Gazprom Marketing and Trading's biggest headaches is
attracting top-notch new recruits. Because they're essentially a
trading business, Gazprom have to compete with merchant banks,
hedge funds and other attractive (or at least eye-wateringly well
paid) employers when finding high flyers. To tip the scales in
their favour they asked us to create a short film that would
explain their work in an appealing way that differentiated them
from their competitors.
Where to begin? Well, their new brand featured a series of
appealing graphic characters, so we brought these likable little
figures to life in an animated short that explains exactly what
Gazprom do. As befits a business that's built firmly on the talents
of its people, Gazprom wanted to feature their staff in the
finished film. That's not easy in an animation, so we came up with
the rather elegant idea of using real Gazprom people to voice the
film's script.
This approach made a massive difference. The accents are just a
little too thick to be the work of professional voiceover artists,
a feature that really increases their appeal, underscores Gazprom's
international perspective and lends the finished film a pleasing
authenticity. The result is charming in the true sense of the word,
and seduced viewers with its quirky personality and appealing
look.
