BP Shipping are the proud owners of 180 vessels, crewed by 2,500 seafarers and supported by 600 on-shore staff. Given the global nature of their business it's perhaps no surprise they struggled with staff communications. When the time came to launch a new charter that emphasized the importance of commercial success to BP Shipping, they asked us to create an employee engagement programme and short film that would present the argument in a way that would work all around the world.

We spent several weeks researching examples of commercial success within the business and working with RY's employee engagement team to find the perfect approach for the film. Next a crack RY film crew spent three gruelling weeks in Dubai, Singapore, Sunbury and London, filming in offices and on ships. On returning to the UK we holed-up with RY's design team to make sure the emerging film reflected the look and feel of the BP Shipping brand.

The finished item successfully explains the importance of commercial success to BP Shipping employees in an inspirational and engaging way. It shows examples of examples of commercial success at all levels of the business, from junior engineers based in Dubai to senior traders operating out of London, creating a clear understanding of what it means to BP Shipping and what's in it for their people.
