The challenge
BP Shipping operates an international fleet of more than 180 vessels crewed by around 2,300 seafarers and supported by close to 600 on-shore staff. Given the nature of its business and the diverse locations of its people, the company faced many difficulties when it came to communicating with everyone, and in particular sharing ideas and knowledge.

Our solution
We worked closely with people from across the business, including going to sea with some of them, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of their culture. Together we developed a proposition based on 'share and perform' to bring together communications collateral and workshop activities.

We engaged with employees and encouraged them to actively share experience and help develop the commercial success of the business. We created a global launch comprising a presentation and film to explain the importance of commercial success and bring it to life with real-life examples from junior maintenance engineers in Dubai to senior traders in London.
