What was needed?
Laing O'Rourke has over 160 years of experience in engineering,
construction and asset management services. It delivers some of the
largest and most ambitious engineering ventures worldwide,
motivated by a desire to pursue 'engineering excellence' from the
smallest detail up to the most complex development.
Our challenge was to express this excellence in a new website for
the company. This needed to act as a hub for both Australia
and Europe, and offer a seamless user-experience that clearly
reflected the full breadth of Laing O'Rourke's end-to-end
integrated engineering offer.
What we did?
We set about highlighting Laing O'Rourke's core principles of
simplicity, confidence, intelligence and clarity, and exploring how
we could bring a technical and 'engineered' feel to the site. By
creating a new visual language for the business, based on a
flexible but precise blueprint of vertical and diagonal lines, our
attention to detail reflected Laing O'Rourke's own pursuit for
excellence. Geo-location technology was introduced to identify the
location of site visitors and deliver specific and appropriate
content.
What was achieved?
We delivered a website that reflected the ambition of Laing
O'Rourke, clearly demonstrating how it pursues excellence in
engineering, both now and in the future.
"Our objective was to arrive at a design that was clean, easy to
navigate and used strong visual imagery to communicate our
Engineering Enterprise ambitions to a range of audiences and
stakeholders. Radley Yeldar was able to deliver on that ambition.
It gives us a solid base on which to build our communications and
online engagement plans moving forward."
Philip Pashley, Head of Corporate Communications, Laing
O'Rourke
The results speak for themselves. The page views of the new site
are up by over 50% and the average time people are spending on the
site is over 30% longer.
